Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

Arlo is intended for users who are at least 18 years of age. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, you may not use this service.

2. What Arlo Is

Arlo is a personal finance analysis tool that helps you understand your spending patterns, categorize transactions, and track your financial health over time. Arlo is not a bank, financial advisor, investment advisor, or licensed financial planner. Nothing in Arlo constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

3. How It Works

You export transaction history as a CSV file directly from your bank or credit card provider and import it to Arlo. Arlo never connects to your bank accounts directly, never requests your banking credentials, and never has access to your accounts.

Arlo processes your transaction data — specifically merchant names, amounts, and dates — to categorize spending and power AI-assisted analysis. Raw account numbers, card numbers, and other sensitive identifiers are stripped before any data is stored or processed.

4. AI Processing

Arlo uses Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic, to categorize transactions and respond to your financial questions. Scrubbed transaction data — merchant names and amounts — is transmitted to Anthropic's API to perform this analysis. No raw bank account numbers, card numbers, or personal identifiers are transmitted to Anthropic. By using Arlo, you consent to this processing. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models.

5. No Financial Advice

Arlo provides budgeting analysis and spending summaries based on your data. This is not financial advice. Arlo does not recommend specific investments, tax strategies, insurance products, or financial decisions. Consult a licensed financial professional for advice specific to your situation.

6. Your Data

You own your data. Arlo stores your transaction data solely to provide the service to you. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data with third parties for advertising or any other commercial purpose.

You can export all your data at any time from the Settings page. You can delete all your data at any time from the Settings page. Upon account deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

7. Subscription and Payment

Arlo offers a free trial period. After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods.

8. Accuracy

Arlo uses automated categorization and AI analysis which may not always be accurate. Transaction categories may be incorrect and financial summaries may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any information Arlo provides before making financial decisions.

9. Limitation of Liability

Arlo is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Arlo and its operators are not liable for any damages, losses, or financial decisions made in reliance on information provided by this service. Your use of Arlo is at your own risk.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Arlo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of material changes via email.
